Happy Fall! Today was the first day it truly felt like Fall here! Naturally, I spent all day in the kitchen testing out some warm and creamy recipes that will keep my family feeling cozy and nourished through the Fall/Winter.
The go-to condensed creamy soup bases typically contain, wheat, dairy, and soy, or some variation of those ingredients. If you are AIP, allergic, or intolerant to any of those ingredients you might have thought your creamy casseroles and soup days were over. They aren’t! Even if you are just here for some healthy inspiration, give this recipe a try, it is full of nutritious ingredients that will add protein, and fiber to your meals.
Condensed Creamy Soup base
The star of the show for all of your creamy Fall/Winter recipes!
Equipment
- 1 mixing bowl
- measuring cups
- measuring spoon
- storage dish with lid
Ingredients
- ¾ cup Flour mix (ex: Aipeazy waffle mix, Arrowhead mills oat flour mix)
- ½ tsp Sea Salt
- ¼ tsp Ground Pepper
- 1 tsp Dried herb blend Morton and Bassett Italian Herb Blend
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder Morton and Bassett
To turn this dry mix into your condensed soup you will need Coconut Cream or whatever your safe version of a milk is, and Chicken Broth, I use bone broth for added protein, my favorite is Epic brand Homestyle Savory Chicken.
Instructions
- Whisk all of these ingredients together for a perfect base for your condensed creamy chicken soup! I like to store this in and air tight container in the refrigerator and pull from it as needed to add creamy flavor to my Fall recipes!
- To turn this flour mixture into the equivalent of 1 can of condensed soup you will mix ¼ cup of your flour mixture with ½ cup of your coconut cream or whatever milk substitute you prefer. Whisk that until well combined into a thick soupy consistency. Meanwhile, heat up about 7-8 ounces of your Chicken Broth on the stove top. Once you broth is simmering, add in your combined coconut cream and flour mixture. Simmer and stir for 5-10 minutes until well combined. Feel free to add in some coconut oil or other healthy fat at this point, and add any extra seasonings to taste. This will thicken up as it cooks but will thicken up even more as it cools down! Use this in place of 1 can of Condensed Cream of Chicken soup.
